Over the years, Fortnite has established a massive, ever-evolving community of people that are religiously active on various social media to discuss everything Fortnite. So, when the news about Elon Musk buying Twitter for $44 billion broke, many Fortnite fans started speculating whether the popular battle royale would be the next purchase from Musk.
Suffice it to say, Elon Musk has no plans to purchase Fortnite from Epic Games though that didn't stop one fan from creating Fortnitesque fan art of Elon Musk and Tesla's Cybertruck.
Fan shares Elon Musk and Cybertruck Fortnite fan art
Reddit user ActorWriter24 posted a fan art featuring Elon Musk, Cybertruck, and a Tesla Car with the title 'Elon Next purchase.' The fan art seemed befitting for Musk's potential outfit in the Fortnite item shop.
While some fans showed their displeasure by simply stating 'no,' others fooled around and speculated about Fortnite's future if such an acquisition happened. User 'lou2408' made fun of Epic Games' regularly rotating items in the item shops by saying, 'Maybe he'll release non 30 day rotation skins and emotes lol.' The post has since then been removed by the moderators.
It isn't exactly the first time that rumours about Elon Musk buying Fortnite are floating around. It first began during Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 when Musk retweeted a meme that stated, 'Elon Musk buys Fortnite and delete it,' with a caption, 'Had to be done ur welcome.' When Fortnite did enter downtime for Chapter 2 Season 1, many fans started claiming that Musk had indeed bought and shut down the game.
What if Elon Musk buys Fortnite?
While it's difficult to imagine anyone buying Fortnite from Epic Games, the possibility of Musk buying or investing in the brand isn't necessarily bad. If anything, it could speed up some of the bigger collaborations and events like the annual Fortnite concerts. Musk is a renowned gamer and doesn't shy away from excitedly talking about the games he likes and the games he plays during interviews.
It's also important to note that Fortnite has become increasingly popular since Chapter 2 Season 1 dropped and gets regular notable updates to keep players engaged. In our list of top 10 games of all time, we included Fortnite and called it the 'epitome of pop culture,' a no small feat for a five-year-old game. As such, it deserves Musk's attention and potential acquisition and investments from him if done diligently.
