SALT LAKE CITY — A sister missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was hospitalized with critical injuries after she was hit by a pickup truck on Friday.

The Unified Police Department said there was a crash between a car and a bicycle at 6:44 p.m. at 2820 S. 800 West in Magna.

UPD said it could not confirm the age or gender of the person hit. Church officials identified the victim as Sister Hillary Lamphere, of Ronan, Montana, who was serving in the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission at the time of the crash.

“Sister Lamphere’s parents are grateful for the prayers being offered for their daughter and the comfort and support they are receiving from family and friends,” Church spokesman Sam Penrod said.

The crash remains under investigation. Family members said Lamphere suffered a broken collarbone and broke several bones in her neck in the crash.
